Empowering a NYC preschool to reinvent itself after the Covid-19 crisis.

Playgarden Prep is a Montessori based preschool located in NYC who strive to bring a comprehensive education in the early stages that provides the foundation for all future learning. Due to Covid-19, they had to close their physical locations and therefore had to look for a way to deliver the curriculum at home.

The challenge: Design a WebApp that allows parents and caretakers to easily follow Playgarden Prep’s curriculum at home.

For the client it was extremely important to keep the serve and volley interactions with the students, a core element in their methods. As a solution, we incorporated a series of online worksheets intertwined with the video lessons, with a rewards system of gaining puzzle pieces in order to keep the children excited on completing the daily lessons.

As well as online Zoom lessons, so students can connect with their favorite teachers and classmates.

A student cubby mirrors the real experience of having a student’s corner with all one’s personal belongings. It contains the puzzles unlocked by completing daily lessons, the complete curriculum with all lessons available, a student portfolio with all the worksheets and the badges unlocked by watching activities (bonus) videos.

Finally, to make it more attractive for parents, and to bring online the experience of being part of the Playgarden Prep parent’s community, we also included a Parent’s corner: a blog, parenting tips and discussion forums.
